How many Mottled Ducks do you see hiding among the Jointed Spiked Rush of our SBEP's Pilot Pond? It's amazing to see how their colors blend into the natural environment. The Mottled Duck searches in shallow water, pushing it's bill into the the mud at the water's edge. Their diet consists of aquatic plants and grasses, insects and small fish. They also eat the Spike Rush seeds and tubers.
